A Registered Agent is an individual (partner or any other person, whether or not affiliated with the partnership) who resides in California or a corporation designated by the Secretary of State to accept service of process for a Corporation, Limited Liability Company, Limited Partnership, and other entities filed with the Secretary of State, to accept service of process if the partnership is sued.

Virtually all states require corporations and LLCs to appoint a registered agent in the state where the company if formed. This registered office may be at an address that is different from the business address (as where the corporation's business office is not located within the state).

The registered agent may be an individual or a company approved by the state to act as agent, located at a state where the company is formed.  The registered agent's name and addresss are included on the formation documents.  This information is a matter of public record.

The registered agent is responsible for receiving important legal and tax documents including: notice of litigation (service or process), franchise tax forms and annual report forms.

As your registered agent, we will:

• Accept any legal service of process (notice of litigation) document, and ship the service of process to you via overnight delivery.

• Notify you via telephone.
• Notify you by email upon receipt of service of process.
• Forward any official documents and tax notices received from the Secretary of State, Franchise Tax Board, IRS, and/or any Department of State.

The company name you submit for registered agent services from California's Best Incorporating Service, Inc. must be identical to the name that appears on your company's state-approved formation or foreign qualification documents in order for California's Best Incorporating Service, Inc. to be the registered agent.
